Postcards for Seniors
May 2nd, 2026

Thank you Community Music Schools of Toronto for hosting us during your music rehearsal.

While waiting to rehearse, youth had the opportunity to engage in a fun art activity creating Postcards for local seniors.

This activity gave youth the opportunity to utilize their creative skills while thinking of others in our community.

A big thank you to all the youth that participated and thought of our seniors!
Paint the Earth Event
April 21st & 30th

Let’s celebrate Earth Day.

GSI team connected with two new senior groups sharing an afternoon filled with creativity, conversation, and meaningful moments. From painting to spending time together, these small moments helped build new connections and bring a sense of joy and community to everyone involved.

One senior, after painting his rocks, said, “I never knew I was able to paint and create something so beautiful until today.”

This is a beautiful moment that demonstrates how our small acts of kindness creates bigger impacts for our seniors. We are grateful for all seniors that participated in our activity, along with their amazing staff for welcoming us.

Winter Initiative 2025
December 11, 2025
Winter Initiative 2025 was a hit!

With everyone’s kindness, we were able to provide 480 seniors in homes with thoughtful winter gifts to brighten their holiday season. This year’s theme was Teddy Bears and Stuffed Animals, and each gift came with a special note inside:
I Choose You
I don't ask for much, just HUG ME for LOVE
May you have a wonderful winter
Other seniors received sweet letters from students filled with thoughtful words. Together, we made a meaningful difference and brought smiles to many this winter!

We hosted a Name That Tune activity that had our seniors engaged and using their voices to sing along. It was truly heartwarming to see everyone smiling and involved, whether singing, clapping, or grooving to the music.

We are grateful for all the volunteers and collaborators who helped bring this day to life. A special thank-you to the Community Music Schools of Toronto for hosting our youth virtual concert, to the youth choir at The Universal Church Canada, and to Music Therapist Nathan Garland.

National Seniors Day
October 1, 2025
For National Seniors Day 2025, our goal was to create 320 unique cards filled with special messages for local seniors.

Community members and local youth came together to help us reach this goal, writing heartfelt notes and sharing words of kindness and appreciation.

This simple activity displays how one kind act can brighten the day of a senior.
Bingo Event 2025
September 20, 2025

This was our first Bingo event.
With the help of incredible students, volunteers, and the dedicated staff at our local seniors’ home, we created an afternoon filled with joy and a little friendly competition.

And of course, those who won received a little treat of their own choosing!
Sip & Paint 2025
July 12, 2025
In July 2025, we had the joy of hosting our first Sip & Paint Event in collaboration with a local seniors’ home. This special day gave our seniors the opportunity to explore their creativity and paint whatever their hearts desired. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide all the supplies needed to make the event a success.

It was truly beautiful to witness how simply being together in a space filled with music, art, and warm company could leave such a lasting impression, not only on the seniors but also on our volunteers.

Our incredible student volunteers also got the chance to share their artistic skills and create meaningful memories with the seniors. One volunteer shared a particularly touching story:

"One senior began the session with hostility towards painting. As I supported and encouraged him, he slowly warmed up to the idea. As he began to paint, I saw his smile grow. He felt proud of what he was creating, something he never thought he could do. By the end, he had produced a beautiful, unique painting all his own."

Winter Initiative 2024
December 15, 2024
Launched in September 2024, we began an initiative to raise funds and provide 160 seniors with winter gifts. On December 15th, after two cars were fully loaded, we were able to personally hand out 160 individually prepared winter gifts.

Watching the seniors surprised reactions and the joy on their faces was truly heartwarming. Along with each gift, students from local schools wrote letters to add an extra touch of warmth.

One senior, after reading her letter said, "I will keep this in my heart."
